Magic

I have discovered something in Ethiopia that just delights my heart. It's a wonderful invention that functions like magic. They're called them shamma. I think it's made out of fat, or used to be; some sort of waxy substance anyway. They're formed into short little cylindrical poles and all the way through the middle is a string. If you light the string it stays lit for hours. It's like a flashlight but you don't have to use any hands to hold it! All you need is a bit of melted wax to stick it on the end of your table and you can go about your business in the middle of the night.
            I just always find myself amazed at what people are capable of with such simple things.
